Another Amazing Week! Here's what went on....

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN.....

We got out the watercolors for the 1st time and learning how to use them. It was a smooth lesson on exploring each color and what will happen if you paint over lines made by crayons.

We read the story titled Tacky The Penguin. In the story, Tacky wore a fun, bright, and unique shirt that showed off his one-of-a-kind personality. The kiddos got to decorate a shirt to show off their personalities too. It was the first time we used markers in the classroom. These turned out great and they are hanging in the classroom. Don't worry, you can see them in person on open house night on September 9th.

Here we co-constructed criteria on how to sit nicely on the carpet and how to walk in a line. The students told me the answers and I wrote them on the chart paper. These not hang in our classroom to reference whenever we need reminders.

THANK YOU FOR THE PLAY DOH DONATIONS!!!

WE LOVE IT!

We are practicing our gluing skills in the classroom.

Gluing beans and beads to our names was so great way to practice our fine motor, hand-eye coordination, and gluing skills.

Hard at work! :)

The finished product!

During center time we have loads of fun. I have seen friendships begin to form and lessons on sharing and taking turns be learned.

The girls in what we call "the home center".

This Mia working away at the writing center. At the writing center the kids get to explore all kinds of writing materials. There is always markers, glue, crayons, scissors, scratch paper, and stamps ready to use at the writing center.

Boosting memory power!!!!

Here is an interesting fact I found on a teacher blog. I am a firm believer in keeping the kids moving, talking, and singing through out the day to enhance their learning. So we will be singing sight words songs, acting out alphabet sounds, and rap as we rote count to 100 this year! It's going to be a balanced combination of movement and then taking our learning to paper/pencil desk work.

Our 1st Week of School

The 1st week of school was awesome! We met our new classmates and toured the school. We also learned how to use scissors, glue, and explored the play centers in our classroom.

Here we are getting ready to tour the campus!

Along the way we found out where the Health Room is located and met Ms. Judy the health nurse.

This is the dramatic play (dress up) center.

Legos are always a fun center to do. We even got a shaka from Dean on his 1st day!

There's a doctor in the house! :)

Reading in the library. We are lucky because we have lots of books to choose from!

This is our 1st time learning how to use scissors in the classroom. We all did so well aka no one came home with a self-made haircut! It was a fun project!

The glue rule in our class is: a tiny dot of glue can go a loooooooooong way!

The end product! Our Very1st Art Piece in Kindergarten!!!
