Measuring our Friends!

We got into groups. Then, decided who will go first.

Groups getting organized.

Laying down to get measured. One partner was asked to lay down as the other one connected cubes from head to heal.

More measuring going on with these groups!

Now, comes the counting. The kids needed to count the total number of cubes it took from head to toe for each person in their group.

This group is busy counting!

Here is the worksheet each student needed to complete as they worked on this assignment.

Students busy working on observation list.

Dean and Kepa are working together!

A fun treasure hunt.... the kids were asked to dig for items buried (planted) on the beach. Then, they had to sort the items found by "olden days" or "today's time"

Getting ready to dig!

Vowel egg hunt

We did an egg hunt for vowels. In the eggs were simple words or names the kiddos could easily write down in their journal. They were asked to make a list of all the words they found. The eggs were hidden all over the classroom. They really enjoyed it! After, they went to their seats and color coded the letters that are vowels and the letters that are consonants.

We have been practicing drawing ourselves all year long. Look at how great they are doing! It seems like just yesterday their self-portraits were just heads with legs coming out of them. Look at them now!!!

Money Bunny song!

We learned a new song at carpet time. It's called Money Bunny! Here are some brave singers that sang it for the class!
Song words:
A penny's worth 1
A Nickel's worth 5
A Dime is worth 10
And a Quarter 25
Hey Honey Bunny
I know my Money Bunny!

Finding ways to make ten!

Here are are in the classroom with a large ten frame. We used the stuffed animals we had in class to find all the different ways we could add and get ten as our answer.

Here is Dean making ten.
Here is the worksheet we used to record our findings.

Here is Layne helping us find a different way to make 10.
